This is the first time I have had to think in depth about the function of a particular space. I usually see a room and know what I want it to do without having to think too much about it or analyse the thoughts I do have. However, now that I have I realise that there's been more thought put into it than I originally thought (that's a lot of thoughts isn't it?!).
Ok, so a dining room in a family home is not just a place to eat, it's also a place where people come together to talk about their day etc, a place where families meet, probably a lot less than they should. A dining room should be inviting, warm, comfortable and have an intimate feel about it.
I used a very wide angle of 10mm on a crop sensor, this gave me a focal length of 16mm which has caused some distortion. This wide angle however draws the viewer into the room. It is also wide enough to show the many access points which encourage people to enter and come together with the table as the meeting place.
